My Fancy Snowman

Renee and I built a snowman today!!  It was harder than I remembered - and a little colder - but it turned out all cute and shit.  The snow was super powdery (which made fusing tough) but we persevered and ended up with a pretty decent fellow, if I do say so myself!  We scrounged for things to use for the face...  no coal or full-sized carrots in the house, shocker!  Only baby carrots, which don't work so well.  Ended up with a crown (don't ask), racquetballs for eyes, a funnel for the nose and branches for the mouth and arms.  Not too bad, considering....

I'm no (Snow) Angel

I have been wanting to make a snow angel for the past few days, but just haven't been quite drunk enough.  I would start to go for it, then think, "oh, not now, I just warmed up," or, "my hair's dry - I'll do it later."  But, finally, I was out in the snow, post-snowman, and figured it was as good a time as any.  It wasn't what I was hoping for.  The snow is over a foot deep, but has accumulated over the past 4 days, with layers of freezing rain (ice) in between.  So I threw myself back only to sink to the top layer of ice, barely denting it.  Oh well, at least I got my fix and realized that I wasn't really missing anything.  Until next year!!

Christmas Day!

We now have over a foot of snow on the ground and have been "trapped" in the house since Saturday.  Renee (my sister) and I did slide our way to the local LA Fitness in her rented Altima with the bald tires, cruising past the geniuses who managed to stick themselves in ditches.  We also made a few scary trips to the grocery store for more supplies (mostly beer, but also lots of food for cooking and baking!), but otherwise stayed holed up at my mom's place.  My boyfriend and I work crazy hours, and generally aren't home except to sleep.  It's been nice not doing anything, and we've had a nice few days on our asses.  However my sister gets stir-crazy and is always trying to get us to do stuff.  Since I did get my down-time (and have next week off of work too), it works for me.   Today we cleared the snow from the driveway and even made a snow man!

Portland - Christmas 2008

I haven't had much time at all to write - been so busy at work - that I haven't been able to put up my England pics/videos yet.  Now it's Christmas week and I'm in Portland for 8 days, working very little, and I have time to post!  I'll start with Portland stuff.  Gordon and I were able to make it in on the last flight (landing at 1 pm), before PDX got all iced in.  Knowing we could be stuck inside for a few days, we stopped at Safeway for the necessities such as cupcake mix and nacho fixins.   We got 6+ inches of snow the first day, and another 5+ inches the next....  PLUS a round of freezing rain overnight that put a 1/2" layer of ice on everything.  I'll post more later, but here is a video to start you out...
